M.E. portrayed by artists with M.E.
From 29 April to 5 May, a unique exhibition will be held at the Treehouse on the NDSM Wharf in Amsterdam, featuring work by artists with M.E. and children with M.E., under the title “Unbroken.”
The many tens of thousands of people living with M.E. (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis) in the Netherlands often lead lives that remain largely invisible to the outside world. Because of the severity of their illness, many patients are confined to their homes, making it almost impossible to visit others or receive visitors. On top of this, M.E. is often not recognized by doctors and is sometimes not even acknowledged by the healthcare system or by society.
Despite living with this chronic, disabling, and often overlooked multisystem disease, these highly talented artists depict their lives with M.E. in their own distinctive, remarkable, original, and often striking ways.
