Young people – Help with important research on ME/CFS and post-COVID

For the NMCB (Netherlands ME/CFS Cohort and Biobank Consortium), we are looking for children with ME/CFS and healthy children aged 8 to 18 years. This biomedical study, funded by ZonMw, aims to improve our understanding of ME/CFS and post-COVID in children.

Who can participate?

  • Children aged 8–18 years with an official diagnosis of ME/CFS (CCC – Canadian Consensus Criteria)
  • Healthy children aged 8–18 years without ME/CFS or post-COVID, to participate in the control group

Why participate?

There is still limited knowledge about how ME/CFS and post-COVID affect children. This research aims to improve diagnosis, care, and treatment. Your participation can make a difference for children with ME/CFS.

What does participation entail?

  • Two visits (1 of approximately 90 minutes, 1 of approximately 60 minutes) to the Wilhelmina Children’s Hospital (WKZ) at University Medical Center Utrecht (UMCU) in Utrecht for blood sampling and several tests.
  • Completing three online questionnaires (about 60 minutes each) at home, at your own pace
  • Travel and parking costs will be reimbursed

You can participate in this study even if you are not a patient at WKZ/UMCU. Participation is voluntary, and you can withdraw from the study at any time.
